Binghamton University Student Chapter: An interview with students who attended and participated in the IEOM Society North American Conference

Two students from the Binghamton University IEOM Society Student Chapter were interviewed. Both were Graduate Research Students in the School of Systems Science and Industrial and Engineering: MD Tohidul Islam and Awe Alattar. The faculty advisor for the student chapter is Dr. Vang Wang. The interview focused on the students’ individual experience at the Milwaukee Conference. This included interactions with other students from IEOM Society student chapters. The keynote speakers from industry were an important component of the student learning experience. This included speakers from Rockwell Automation, Generac Power Systems, Amatrol, and Case Holland. The Binghamton students found networking and engaging with experienced industry professionals extremely helpful. In addition, the Binghamton students shared some of their chapter activities. Both students found chapter activities to be meaningful learning experiences. One interesting comment from the students was about the role of the faculty advisor, Dr. Wang. They mentioned his dedication to working with the students in the chapter. The IEOM NOW podcast will continue to expand its interviews with students who are actively participating and learning from attending IEOM Society Conferences.
