Southern Arkansas University IEOM Society Student Chapter: An interview with

This interview focused on the student members of the Southern Arkansas University IEOM Society Chapter. A select group of three students who attended the IEOM Society North American Conference at the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee was interviewed. The interview was arranged by their faculty advisor, Dr. Hayder Zghair. The following students were interviewed: Hafiz Noman Javed, Sana Nadir Bhimani, and Seema Powar. Each was actively engaged in the SIU student chapter. The interview included a discussion of their individual experiences at the IEOM Society North American Conference at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. This was their first experience at an IEOM Society. Each student said that the entire conference was overwhelming as a learning experience. The keynote presentation from industry and academia, industry plant tours, plenary and technical sessions were integral parts of their experience. They especially enjoyed the opportunity to meet the attendees from different countries. Networking opportunities with industry professionals were meaningful. The students also provided their thoughts on the value of joining and becoming active in an IEOM Society Student Chapter. Each encouraged students to take advantage of the IEOM Society’s vast global network. They acknowledged the importance of their faculty advisor, Dr Hayder Zghair, who provided encouragement and support. Each student looked forward to continuing their participation in the IEOM Society’s activities, including the Virtual. Global Competitions.
